About the Job: The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of packaging, mixing, and forming equipment used in confectionery manufacturing. This position plays a critical role in minimizing unplanned downtime, executing preventative maintenance programs, and supporting a safe, GMP-compliant production environment. The Mechanic works closely with production supervisors, operators, and fellow maintenance technicians to ensure equipment reliability and continuous improvement across the facility.


Key Responsibilities:

Preventative Maintenance & CMMS

  • Execute scheduled preventative maintenance tasks on mixing, forming, and packaging equipment per established frequencies and procedures
  • Log work orders, PM completions, parts usage, labor hours, and equipment downtime accurately in the CMMS
  • Review and update equipment maintenance histories; identify and escalate recurring failures for root cause analysis
  • Assist in developing and refining PM schedules to optimize equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime

Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagnostics and repairs on mixing, forming and packing equipment
  • Conduct changeovers, adjustments, and alignments on forming equipment to maintain product specifications
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, OEM manuals, and technical drawings to guide repair and maintenance work
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, assess root cause, and execute corrective repairs to restore production
  • Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of new or modified equipment

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Perform all work in strict compliance with Lockout/Tagout procedures, OSHA standards, and facility safety policies
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices at all times, including proper hygiene, tool control, and contamination prevention
  • Adhere to allergen control protocols during maintenance activities to prevent cross-contact
  • Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment in all maintenance areas

Parts & Inventory Management

  • Work with vendors and OEM representatives to source parts, obtain technical support, and evaluate new components
  • Track parts consumption and costs within the CMMS; flag opportunities to standardize parts across equipment

Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate clearly with production supervisors and operators on equipment status, planned maintenance windows, and estimated repair times
  • Provide thorough shift-to-shift handoff documentation, including open issues, in-progress work, and follow-up actions
  • Collaborate with quality, sanitation, and operations teams to address maintenance-related quality or food safety concerns
  • Support training and mentorship of less experienced maintenance personnel as needed


Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience, preferably in food, beverage, or consumer goods manufacturing
  • Proficiency in mechanical systems; working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals
  • Experience using a CMMS for work order and PM management
  • Demonstrated understanding of LOTO procedures and industrial safety practices
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and systematic troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods throughout a shift
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted; team lift for heavier loads
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, temperature variation, and food ingredients
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at elevated heights with proper training and safety equipment
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments


Work environment:

  • Manufacturing plant environment; personal protective equipment required in designated areas
  • Rotating shifts including days, afternoons, and/or nights; weekend work and overtime as required by production needs
  • On-call availability may be required for emergency breakdowns or critical production situations
  • Subject to regular departmental performance reviews and safety observations


Shift: Monday-Friday; 9pm-5:30 am. Shift starts Monday at 9 pm and ends Saturday at 5:30 am


Compensation: $32-$34/hr
