Position Summary
- The ALM Subsurface Production Technologist provides data, analytics, visualization, regulatory reporting and technical workflow support to the New Mexico Asset Lifecycle Management Subsurface team. The role develops and maintains automated reporting solutions, improves data quality and converts complex operational and subsurface datasets into actionable business insights.
- A primary focus is Power BI development and sustainment, supported by Python and SQL-based data preparation, validation and workflow automation.
- The role also supports New Mexico regulatory reporting and develops Plug and Abandonment packages, including supporting documentation, wellbore diagrams and AFE generation.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analytics, Visualization & Automation
- Develop, maintain and enhance Power BI dashboards that provide actionable insights for ALM Subsurface, Operations and leadership teams.
- Develop Python- and SQL-based solutions to automate reporting, data validation and recurring business workflows.
- Transform complex operational and subsurface data into scalable visualizations and decision-support tools.
- Support enterprise data-source transitions, dashboard migrations and reporting enhancements.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize and automate manual work processes across the organization.
Data Stewardship & Quality
- Maintain data quality and integrity across production, well test, allocation and regulatory datasets.
- Validate data sources, troubleshoot discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions with stakeholders.
- Support well test validation workflows and continuous improvement of automated validation logic.
- Document data definitions, business rules and reporting methodologies.
- Serve as a key data steward ensuring confidence in reporting and visualization products.
Regulatory Reporting
- Manage assigned New Mexico regulatory reporting requirements, including IP testing, SWD reporting and associated compliance submissions.
- Prepare, validate and submit required NMOCD reporting and supporting documentation.
- Maintain regulatory reporting databases, trackers and audit-ready records.
- Investigate and resolve data discrepancies impacting regulatory compliance.
- Develop reporting and visualization tools that improve compliance visibility and reporting accuracy.
P&A Package Development & AFE Support
- Develop and maintain Plug and Abandonment packages, supporting documentation and workflow records.
- Prepare wellbore diagrams, technical summaries and required case documentation.
- Generate and maintain AFEs supporting P&A execution activities.
- Coordinate technical, operational and financial inputs required for package approval.
- Maintain reporting and tracking tools supporting inactive well and P&A program management.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards and data visualizations.
- Working knowledge of Python, SQL and advanced Excel for data analysis, reporting, workflow automation, data export manipulation and automated spreadsheet refreshes.
- Experience with data validation, data stewardship and quality-control processes.
- Experience supporting regulatory reporting, preferably within oil and gas operations.
- Strong communication, organizational and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including Power Query, DAX and data modeling.
- Experience developing Python-based automation and analytical workflows.
- Experience working with upstream production, well test, allocation or subsurface datasets.
- Experience with New Mexico regulatory reporting and NMOCD compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting Plug and Abandonment workflows, wellbore documentation and AFE generation.
- Awareness of or proficiency in Energy Components, particularly for supporting allocation corrections and resolving production data/network errors.

Scope Exclusions
- This position is not intended to provide routine development-area Production Engineering coverage or perform gas lift design.

The primary accountabilities are data and analytics, Power BI development and maintenance, Python and SQL automation, data quality and visualization, New Mexico regulatory reporting, P&A package development, wellbore documentation and AFE generation and tracking.
The hiring range for this position is $58to $65.35/per hour. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity, and may also vary depending on candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience amongst other factors.
