Duties: 

As a Senior Permits and Licensing Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the global expansion of the company’s businesses. 

You will be responsible for researching, understanding, and collecting pertinent licenses, certifications, and public and private permitting and access requirements to help guide our strategy and programs. 

You'll do this while aligning cross-functional teams on execution plans, enabling rapid growth and ensuring compliant and high-quality experiences for our guests and hosts worldwide. Your attention to detail, strong operational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities will be crucial to your success.

 

Our team

  • The Scaled Ops team is a cross-functional supply team that supports the company’s global business operations as we coordinate internally and with guests, hosts, and local governments / organizations to ensure successful outcomes for our community.
  • We are seeking an operator who is exceptionally effective, entrepreneurial, collaborative, and an excellent communicator. 
  • Experience in working with a wide variety of permits, licenses, certifications, and/or permissions within the leisure and hospitality industry is an asset, as is a willingness to be scrappy, roll up your sleeves, and dig into the details of each situation.
  • In this role, you will help us build out the permitting, licensing, and certification program at the company.
  • You will help determine which permits, licenses, certifications, and/or permissions, are required for each activity and location; assist with the development and organization of regular verification for any required permits, licenses, and certifications, and provide guidance to hosts on procurement of such permits, licenses, and certifications. 
  • You will drive strategy alignment across multiple stakeholders, and the execution of the program. You will have an eye towards scale, testing, and iterating to further the capacity of the team. Ultimately your work will support the ability for the company to grow and scale its businesses as a good partner to local communities and stakeholders.  


Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Build out the operational plan to understand, define, collect and maintain permitting and licensing requirements for various categories across the business at the local and regional levels.
  • Create alignment across Supply, Policy, Legal, Product Marketing, and Business stakeholders on plan to execute on permit, license, access requirements or other necessary permissions.
  • Implement requirements within local jurisdictions, such as reaching out to permitting / licensing bodies, conducting training sessions for team members, and verifying that required documentation has been received and stored.
  • Directly connect with institutions, regulatory bodies, and private property owners to understand their requirements and create plans that enable access for hosts.
  • Assist hosts with obtaining required permissions.
  • Triage inquiries from private and public permitting / licensing bodies, addressing access-related incidents, and assisting with any local enforcement actions or investigations.
  • Work with Product and Engineering to identify opportunities to automate operational processes, shape requirements for internal tooling development.


Education: 

  • 10+ years of work experience in operations, management consulting, and/or project management in dynamic entrepreneurial and highly ambiguous environments.
  • Experience with permits and licenses, particularly access/location ones, within the travel and hospitality industry, is a strong plus (ideally spanning a wide variety of geographies). 
  • Experience spinning up programs and projects from 0 to 1.
  • Alignment with the company's values and high ethical standards.
  • Hands-on approach of getting things done with a sense of urgency and quickly adapting priorities to unexpected changes to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Proven track record navigating a matrixed organization and building relationships to achieve goals with cross-functional teams, including product, analytics, legal, and policy.
  • Strong analytical skills, including creating and using data, understanding problems, communication opportunities, and making informed decisions. 
  • SQL knowledge is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and quality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent presentation skills.
  • Intellectually curious, open-minded self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity and risk and excited to get their hands dirty.


The hiring range for this position is $86 to $96 per hour. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity, and may also vary depending on candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience amongst other factors.
