SUMMARY:
The General Manager holds the responsibility for leading a high-volume, distribution center/warehouse. Responsibilities include safety, customer relations, operational oversight, business metrics, staff development, business development support, and P&L. This position leads teams in continuous improvement projects, as well as having heavy involvement with customer relationships.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Leads and drives corporate values and the operating philosophy of Safety/Customers/Operations/People/Execution.
- Promotes and demonstrates safety as a business value through training, focusing, implementing modifications to current operating methods, and reporting questions/concerns to ensure a safe and productive working environment.
- Oversees the planning and scheduling of distribution center/warehouse and their services including shipping, receiving, returned/damaged goods, maintenance, and administrative activities to ensure the customer requirements and demands are met in an efficient manner.
- Acts as the liaison between distribution centers and multi-customers from multi-disciplines.
- Directs and coordinates various programs essential to distribution center procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, employee involvement, security, etc.).
- Creates, coordinates, and reports on business metrics (KPI’s) applicable to the operation and fulfill customer and internal requirements.
- Manages, coordinates, and implements cost-effective operational solutions to continuously improve efficiency and enhance service levels and quality.
- Holds accountability for P&L performance for assigned distribution centers.
- Maximizes productivity, quality, and service throughout operations by utilizing best practice techniques in the areas of facilities layout, methods, material handling concepts, technological enhancements, and measurements.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10 plus years of management/supervisory experience, preferably in a large, high-volume, shared environment.
- Experience servicing an external customer.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or related operations discipline.
- Must be able to assume a leadership role in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment dedicated to meeting and exceeding the customer and achievement of safety, quality, and productivity goals.
- Must be able to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Must be hands-on and have previous experience with staff development, facility layout, inventory management, and P&L for a large operation.
- Superior team-building skills.
- Experience with multi-shift operations.
- Must possess a high energy level and the drive to implement change.
- Prior planning experience, including budgets, manning, equipment, and facilities.
- Continuous improvement experience.
