Mechanical Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a mid-level Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and testing of advanced simulation systems used across technical and industrial environments. This role focuses on the mechanical and electromechanical aspects of complex training and simulation solutions, including structural components, motion systems, control mechanisms, and fabricated assemblies. The engineer will work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to translate technical concepts and drawings into reliable, real-world systems.

Key Responsibilities

The Mechanical Engineer will contribute throughout the full product lifecycle, from concept through deployment. Responsibilities include supporting mechanical design activities, developing layouts and detailed drawings, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure systems function as intended. The role involves creating and reviewing technical documentation, selecting materials and components, and building or supporting prototypes and test articles. The engineer will participate in testing and performance analysis, review data against design objectives, and recommend improvements.

Additional responsibilities include assisting with control system integration, supporting manufacturing and assembly activities, and participating in system installation and integration efforts. The role may require troubleshooting mechanical issues in both lab and field environments and providing technical support to internal teams and external stakeholders. Staying current with emerging tools, materials, and methods relevant to simulation and mechanical design is expected.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline and a solid foundation in mechanical systems and components. Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or comparable platforms is required. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to clearly communicate technical information in written and verbal form. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting is essential. Travel to support system installation, testing, or customer support may be required.

Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Core Competencies

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills, the ability to interpret technical data and drawings, and comfort working across engineering disciplines. Clear communication and sound technical judgment are critical for success in this role.

Physical Requirements

The position involves a mix of office, lab, and field work. The engineer must be able to stand, sit, walk, and use hands for handling tools and components. Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds is required, with occasional lifting of heavier items.

Tools and Technologies

Typical tools include standard computer systems, office productivity software, CAD platforms, and precision measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
