Electro-Mechanical Production Technician (2 openings)
On-site | Day shift | Central Florida | Target start: mid-September
Why this role exists
Be among the first hires to stand up new production lines for three live-training products used by defense customers. You’ll help transition designs into repeatable, high-throughput assembly with an emphasis on quality, safety, and scale.
What you’ll build
-
Hand-thrown training devices (non-pyrotechnic)
-
Directional training mine devices (non-pyrotechnic)
-
Helmet-mounted receiver modules used with soldier headgear
What you’ll do
-
Launch the lines: Set up benches, tools, kitting, and flow for initial production; create/ refine work instructions and travelers; support first-article builds and ramp.
-
Assemble & validate: Perform light electro-mechanical assembly using pre-made connectors and fasteners (no soldering). Apply correct torque, strain relief, and ESD/FOD controls.
-
Test & document: Run functional checks on sub-assemblies and finished units using fixtures and basic test equipment (e.g., multimeter). Record results for traceability.
-
Quality at scale: Conduct in-process inspections, handle nonconformances, and feed issues back to engineering for rapid resolution.
-
Materials & kitting: Pull parts per BOM, maintain lot control, and keep accurate counts; flag shortages and suggest substitutions where appropriate.
-
Continuous improvement: Propose simple jigs, poka-yokes, and 5S improvements to boost throughput and reduce defects.
-
Ship readiness: Prep, pack, and label to meet delivery schedules and protect sensitive components in transit.
What you’ll bring
- 2+ years in electro-mechanical or hardware assembly (production, contract manufacturing, or lab/prototype).
- Comfortable reading basic drawings, diagrams, and work instructions.
- Hands-on with hand tools, torque drivers, crimpers; able to use a multimeter for continuity/voltage checks.
-
Experience working under an ESD program and following travelers/routers.
- Detail-oriented recordkeeping; familiar with version control of work instructions.
- Ability to lift/carry up to ~40 lbs and stand for extended periods; dependable attendance on day shift.
- Team mindset and communication skills to coordinate with production, quality, and engineering.
Nice to have
- Launch experience for a new line or NPI ramp.
-
Familiarity with ISO 9001 practices (travelers, lot traceability, calibration, NC/CAPA).
- Background with inert training devices, AR/VR peripherals, sensors, or wearables.
- Basic PC skills (work order systems, spreadsheets, labelers, firmware loading).
Work specifics
-
Shift: Day shift (standard business hours), overtime possible during ramp.
-
Environment: Secured facility; adherence to safety, ESD, and handling procedures required.
-
Soldering: Not required (assemblies use pre-fabricated harnesses, connectors, and fasteners).
