Position Title: Quality Auditor – Electronics Manufacturing

Position Overview:


The Quality Auditor ensures that products meet defined workmanship and compliance standards throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. This includes inspection of electronic assemblies, cables, and box builds at multiple stages of production, as well as raw material verification. The role utilizes precision tools and inspection equipment to identify defects, confirm component orientation, and verify conformance to internal and external quality standards. Additional responsibilities include rework soldering, documentation control, and preparation of quality-related records and reports.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect printed circuit assemblies (PCAs), cable harnesses, and electro-mechanical units to high-reliability criteria.
  • Apply knowledge of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and through-hole (THT) processes during inspection tasks.
  • Identify component orientation, polarity, and marking details during inspections.
  • Conduct cable inspections in accordance with industry-standard workmanship criteria.
  • Read and interpret technical documentation, engineering drawings, and inspection specifications.
  • Accurately record inspection results in digital systems and verify completeness of inspection reports.
  • Generate First Article Inspection reports for initial production builds and validate compliance to standards.
  • Prepare Certificates of Conformance (CoCs) and maintain traceability documentation.
  • Collaborate with quality personnel, engineering staff, and production leads to resolve quality concerns.
  • Develop and follow sampling plans in alignment with internal and customer-specific guidelines.
  • Ensure workspace organization, cleanliness, and adherence to all safety requirements.


Core Competencies & Skills:

  • Proficient in inspecting electronics with and without magnification tools (microscope, mantis, loupe, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD workmanship standards.
  • Skilled in performing solder rework on SMT and THT components using hand tools and rework stations.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and direction from supervisors.
  • Comfortable working independently or as part of a team in a production environment.
  • Committed to continuous learning through documented procedures and on-the-job training.
  • Supports onboarding and mentorship of new team members when required.
  • Maintains compliance with all safety protocols and electrostatic discharge (ESD) handling procedures.
  • Strong computer literacy and documentation skills for reviewing, updating, and submitting reports.
  • Participates in training to support personal and professional development.
  • Willing to take on additional tasks based on business needs.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in inspection or quality assurance for electronic assemblies.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and quality systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, and ISO 13485.
  • Prior experience preparing First Article Inspection documentation in accordance with AS9102 is a plus.
  • Previous experience in soldering small electronic components and inspection of box builds is preferred.


Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

This is a physically active role that requires attention to detail and the ability to work across various tasks and positions throughout the workday. Tasks may involve:

  • Alternating between sitting and standing based on the work assignment.
  • Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to access materials and workstations.
  • Lifting and transporting items up to 60 pounds.
  • Performing repetitive hand, wrist, and arm motions required in inspection and documentation tasks.
  • Using carts and hand-operated tools or equipment to move work materials.
  • Operating computers for inspection data entry and documentation.


Work Environment:

This position is based in a temperature-controlled, clean, and well-organized manufacturing facility. A collaborative team environment is supported by structured workflows, assigned workstations, and music via overhead radio. A strong focus is placed on safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. All employees are expected to contribute to maintaining a positive and hazard-free work environment.

Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Occasional weekend hours may be required depending on production needs.
