Welder/Fabricator

Be part of the team that builds the steel that keeps Phoenix industry moving—structural frames, plant-relocation rigging, and industrial piping supports. As Welder/Fabricator you turn drawings into finished assemblies that leave our shop and go to work. In a crew of fewer than ten, every clean bead and square fit shows up on the next job.

Performance Objectives

  • Fabricate and weld structural steel assemblies to AWS D1.1 and project drawings so they pass first-article inspection and ship on the promised date.
  • Cut, fit, and join members (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW) with rework under 2 percent while keeping daily output on the shop schedule.
  • Produce custom brackets, skids, and pipe supports needed for machinery moves and plant piping so field crews can install without delay.
  • Read shop drawings and cut lists, lay out material, and sequence work so the next person never waits for parts.
  • Keep welders, plasma, ironworker, and crane in daily working order and log zero lost-time incidents.
  • Help load and stage finished pieces so trucks leave on time and the shop floor stays clear for the next job.

Environment & Resources

You work in our Phoenix fabrication shop reporting to the owner/shop lead. The crew is small—fabricators, movers, and one or two helpers—so you will see every job from raw stock to loaded truck. Tools include industrial MIG/Stick/Flux-core machines, plasma cutter, ironworker, overhead crane, and a full set of layout and fitting gear. Consumables and PPE are supplied; you bring your own hand tools and a reliable way to get to work.

Essential Qualifications

  • Three-plus years structural steel welding and fitting (shop or field) with current or quickly obtainable AWS D1.1 certification.
  • Ability to interpret shop drawings, cut lists, and weld symbols and turn them into square, dimensionally accurate assemblies.
  • Physical capacity to lift 50+ lb repeatedly, work in Arizona heat, and stand or climb for a full shift.
  • Proven safety record and willingness to stop work rather than take a shortcut.
  • Reliable transportation and a track record of showing up ready to produce.

Why This Role

  • Variety: structural frames one day, custom plant-move steel and pipe supports the next—no two weeks look the same.
  • Visibility: your work leaves the shop and gets installed; you can drive by the finished job.
  • Impact: in a company of 1–10 people your output, quality, and attitude move the entire business.
  • Growth market: Phoenix industrial and construction work is expanding; we need people who can keep pace.

If you take pride in steel that is square, strong, and ready to install, send your resume plus two or three photos of recent structural work. We hire for what you can do, not just what you have done.
