Position: Controller

Location: White Plains, NY

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead financial operations across several business units and sites. This role requires a leader who can provide structure, drive process improvements, and guide a team while still being comfortable rolling up their sleeves. The Controller will oversee accounting, reporting, treasury, cost analysis, and inventory functions while ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities

Accounting and Reporting

  • Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process across multiple entities
  • Coordinate the annual audit process and act as primary contact with external auditors
  • Prepare consolidated financial reports, management packages, and variance analyses
  • Ensure all financial statements comply with GAAP
  • Strengthen internal controls to improve accuracy and safeguard assets

Treasury and Cash Flow

  • Oversee cash management, forecasting, and liquidity planning in partnership with treasury teams
  • Maintain strong banking relationships and monitor financial stability across entities
  • Ensure effective allocation of funds and optimize working capital

Cost Accounting and Operations Support

  • Oversee cost accounting processes to support manufacturing and distribution activities
  • Monitor inventory balances and costs, collaborating with plant and operations leaders
  • Provide analysis to support decisions around production, supply chain, and pricing

Systems and Process Improvement

  • Leverage Business Central (ERP) to improve efficiency and financial reporting
  • Partner with IT and operations to maintain accurate data and optimize workflows
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance reporting capabilities

Leadership and Team Development

  • Manage, mentor, and evaluate a team of finance professionals
  • Define clear responsibilities and expectations to improve productivity
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the group

Strategic Business Support

  • Serve as a finance partner to senior leadership, offering insights and recommendations
  • Evaluate the financial impact of business initiatives, capital projects, and operational changes
  • Work cross-functionally to support company growth and performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; CPA or CMA preferred
  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, including multi-entity oversight
  • Strong background in cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing support
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central (required)
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP and reporting standards
  • Proven track record of building and leading effective teams
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to influence decision-making
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
