Senior Accountant

Location: New Haven, CT

Work Arrangement: Onsite

A well-established and growing organization is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its accounting and finance team in New Haven, CT area. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong accounting foundation who wants broader exposure within a large, multi-entity organization.

The Senior Accountant will be involved in the monthly close, journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed assets, leases, tax-related activities, and general accounting support. The position will also work closely with other areas of the business and participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post monthly journal entries
• Assist with month-end close and financial reporting activities
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Manage accounting for fixed assets and leases
• Assist with sales and tax-related reporting and compliance
• Provide accounting support related to pricing, invoicing, and transaction coding
• Support Accounts Payable and other general accounting activities as needed
• Partner with internal departments to research and resolve financial questions
• Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial reporting
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls
• Work collaboratively with the broader accounting and finance team to meet reporting deadlines

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 2+ years of professional accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
• Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
• Comfortable working with multiple financial systems and large amounts of data
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with different departments and business partners

Preferred Experience

• Experience within a larger, multi-entity or multi-location organization
• Manufacturing experience is a plus, but not required
• Exposure to ERP and financial reporting systems
• Experience with tools such as Power BI, Oracle, Hyperion, OneStream, JD Edwards, or similar platforms is helpful
