Director of Lease Accounting

A rapidly growing organization is seeking a Director of Lease Accounting to lead one of the company's most strategic finance initiatives. This newly elevated role offers the opportunity to build processes from the ground up while leading the implementation of CoStar across a portfolio of 4,000+ lease locations.

This is not a traditional lease accounting role. The ideal candidate is an operator, someone who can balance technical accounting knowledge with project management, process improvement, and cross-functional leadership. Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and rollout of CoStar as the company's new lease accounting platform.
• Manage the accounting for a lease portfolio exceeding 4,000 locations, with continued growth through acquisitions.
• Serve as the accounting lead for all lease accounting activities under ASC 842.
• Design, document, and implement scalable policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Establish strong internal controls and accounting processes to support future acquisitions and company growth.
• Partner closely with the Lease Administration team to ensure accurate lease data, reporting, and compliance.
• Manage lease accounting through the month-end and year-end close process.
• Drive project timelines, coordinate stakeholders, and ensure a successful software implementation.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and operational efficiencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or Business
• Strong working knowledge of ASC 842 Lease Accounting standards.
• CoStar implementation experience is required.
