Operations

Credit strategies only work when the machinery behind them is exact. This role owns the operating cadence that turns investment decisions into settled positions, clean books, and client-ready reporting—across structured credit, asset-based exposures, and insurance-linked solutions. You will be the person who keeps complexity from becoming friction, so portfolio teams can act on idiosyncratic opportunities without operational drag.

Performance Objectives

  • Run daily trade capture, confirmation, and settlement so positions, cash, and corporate actions reconcile to counterparties and custodians with zero unresolved breaks at close.
  • Produce accurate NAV inputs, expense accruals, and investor reporting packages on the published calendar, with exceptions documented and cleared before release.
  • Stand up and maintain operating procedures for new vehicles and structures—waterfall logic, collateral flows, and insurance-related cash movements—so launches go live without manual workarounds.
  • Cut recurring break volume and cycle time by redesigning controls, templates, and vendor handoffs; track open items to closure with clear owners and aging.
  • Partner with portfolio, legal, and finance on event-driven activity—amendments, restructurings, calls, and paydowns—so economics in the models match what hits the accounts.
  • Own counterparty, prime, and administrator relationships: service levels met, data feeds reliable, and issues escalated before they affect clients or P&L.
  • Strengthen the control environment—segregation, approvals, and audit trails—so reviews and audits close with no material findings attributable to operations.

Environment & Resources

You will sit with a small, senior investment team and report to the head of operations (or the COO equivalent). Expect direct access to portfolio managers, administrators, custodians, and counsel—not layers of process. Core tools include the order and portfolio system, administrator portals, reconciliation workbooks, and document repositories. Budget for vendors, data, and process improvement is available when a change demonstrably reduces risk or cycle time. The seat is on-site in Connecticut, with the judgment to escalate fast when markets or structures move.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven ownership of middle- or back-office outcomes at a credit, structured-products, or alternatives manager—not ticket processing alone.
  • Hands-on command of trade lifecycle, cash and position reconciliation, and NAV support for funds or separately managed accounts.
  • Working fluency in structured credit mechanics: tranches, collateral, waterfalls, and amendment or call events.
  • Ability to write procedures others can run and to quantify breaks, aging, and cycle-time improvement.
  • Comfort coordinating administrators, custodians, and counsel under tight deadlines without losing the audit trail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent operating experience in asset management.

Why This Role

  • Real ownership: a growth-stage platform where operations shapes how strategies are launched, not a back-office queue.
  • Exposure to asset-based, structured credit, and insurance solutions—not a single-product book.
  • Direct line to investment decision-makers and external partners.
  • Room to replace manual work with durable controls as the firm adds vehicles.

If you have run the books behind complex credit and want that work to matter, apply with a short note on a process you rebuilt and the result you can measure.
