A well-established global insurance organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Corporate Accounting team. This position is ideal for an accounting professional with a strong foundation in insurance financial reporting who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and wants exposure to complex accounting and reporting matters.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior finance leadership while contributing to the preparation of statutory and GAAP financial reporting, technical accounting initiatives, and process improvements across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP financial statements, including footnotes, disclosures, cash flow statements, and supporting schedules.
- Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process through journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Prepare legal entity financial statements and regulatory reporting for insurance subsidiaries.
- Analyze financial results, identify trends, and assist in preparing management reporting packages for executive leadership.
- Partner with departments including Actuarial, Treasury, Tax, Legal, and other finance teams to ensure complete and accurate financial reporting.
- Support internal and external audit activities by providing documentation, responding to inquiries, and coordinating requests.
- Execute and maintain internal control procedures to support compliance with SOX and corporate governance requirements.
- Assist with the implementation of new accounting guidance, reporting enhancements, and process improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to special projects and other corporate accounting initiatives as the business evolves.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
- Approximately 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong focus on financial reporting.
- Insurance or reinsurance industry accounting experience is required.
- Experience preparing U.S. GAAP financial statements is essential.
- Public accounting experience, particularly Big Four or a national CPA firm serving financial services or insurance clients, is highly valued.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP; exposure to insurance accounting, statutory reporting, IFRS, or consolidations is a plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze and manipulate large datasets.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP or similar financial reporting platforms is preferred.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
- Comfortable interacting with senior leadership and presenting financial information in a clear, concise manner.
