Trade Compliance Specialist
Temperature-sensitive therapies only help patients if they cross borders on time and within specification. This role keeps that promise legally sound: you own the classifications, screens, licenses, and documents that let a global cold-chain network move without surprise holds, penalties, or rejected entries. When you get the file right before wheels-up, a treatment arrives when it is still viable.
Performance Objectives
- Classify containers, shippers, components, and related services so import and export filings are correct on first submission.
- Clear every party, destination, and end use against restricted-party and sanctions rules before a shipment is released.
- Cut customs delays by delivering complete commercial, origin, and regulatory packets that brokers can file without rework.
- Keep licenses, permits, and preferential-origin claims current, documented, and defensible in an audit.
- Close compliance gaps found in lane reviews before they become seizures, fines, or stopped product.
- Turn rule changes in priority markets into operator-ready procedures before they affect live shipments.
- Give logistics, quality, and customer teams a clear go/no-go standard for high-risk lanes and controlled items.
Environment & Resources
You report to supply-chain or trade-compliance leadership and work daily with logistics, quality, customer operations, and external customs brokers. You will use classification references, denied-party screening, and shipment-visibility tools across active containers and passive parcel shippers moving by air. Decisions are made close to operations, with authority to stop a noncompliant release.
Essential Qualifications
- Hands-on ownership of HTS classification, country of origin, and customs valuation for physical goods—not policy commentary alone.
- Proven denied-party, sanctions, and export-control screening that has actually blocked or rerouted a transaction.
- Experience producing broker-ready export and entry files that reduced holds or documentary queries.
- Ability to write short, usable procedures that warehouse and control-tower staff will follow.
- A record of preparing for or responding to customs or internal audits without material findings left open.
Role Selling Points
- Compliance work tied directly to life-enhancing therapies, not generic freight.
- Both active air-cargo equipment and passive packaging, so the problems stay technically interesting.
- A global lane network where your call changes whether product moves today.
- Real-time shipment data you can use to spot risk before a container is tendered.
- A growth-stage operation where a strong specialist can set the standard, not just maintain a binder.
