A respected Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is seeking an Assistant Medical Director – Internal Medicine to join its leadership team in Albuquerque, New Mexico, located about one hour from Santa Fe.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $285,000
  • Up to 15% annual performance bonus
  • $3,000 quarterly leadership stipend for each Pharmacist and Physician Assistant supervised
  • 5 weeks (200 hours) PTO
  • $3,000 CME allowance plus 5 paid CME days
  • Additional $1,000 for licensure, professional memberships, and subscriptions

Position Highlights

  • Monday–Friday schedule
  • 50% clinical practice / 50% leadership and administrative responsibilities
  • Reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer
  • Average of 2.6 patients per clinical hour
  • Athena EMR across all clinic locations
  • Position available due to continued organizational growth
  • This role combines direct patient care with physician leadership. Responsibilities include providing comprehensive primary care, overseeing 4 Physicians, 7 Nurse Practitioners, and 2 Physician Assistants, monitoring provider productivity, partnering with the CMO to improve clinical workflows and operations, and coordinating provider schedules and coverage. The organization provides Primary Care, HIV and Hepatitis C treatment, Behavioral Health, and Pharmacy services. Providers share call responsibilities, averaging 1–4 calls per month, with nurse triage handling initial calls. Typical patient panels range from 1,080–1,350 patients, adjusted for the physician's 50% clinical allocation.


Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
  • Primary care physician with an interest in clinical leadership
  • Eligible to obtain or maintain an active New Mexico Medical License
