Position Summary

They are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator with a minimum of 5+ years of construction estimating experience across a wide array of trades and project types – from site work and foundations to finishes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction processes, cost structures, and the ability to produce accurate, comprehensive estimates for complex urban projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and indirect expenses.
• Analyze architectural and engineering plans, specifications, and construction documents to determine scope, quantities, and units of work.
• Perform site visits as needed to assess conditions and validate quantity take-offs and pricing assumptions.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather pricing, clarify details, and adjust estimates.
• Maintain and update a cost database and vendor/subcontractor pricing lists for all trades and materials.
• Assist in pre-bid meetings, value engineering exercises, and cash flow forecasting.
• Present estimates and budget recommendations to leadership and project teams.
• Monitor trends in material pricing, labor rates, and market conditions relevant to NYC construction.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of professional Construction Estimating experience on ground-up, renovation, and gut rehab projects, preferably in NYC or similar urban environments.
• Proven experience estimating costs across all trades, from excavation/site work through final finishes.
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Expertise with construction take-offs, quantity measurement, and cost analysis.
• Proficiency with estimating and construction software (e.g., Planswift, CostX, RSMeans, Procore, or similar).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work on-site in Bronx, NY full-time (no remote or hybrid work).
• No sponsorship available — must have current authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Attributes

• Prior experience with affordable housing projects, public funding mechanisms, or affordable housing compliance.
• Familiarity with NYC building codes, local zoning, and permitting processes.
• Strong network of trade partners and subcontractors in the New York City market.
