Superintendent – Commercial Construction (Ground-Up & Renovations)

Office Location: Barnegat, NJ

Project Locations: New Jersey | Southern NJ | Eastern PA | Philadelphia | Delaware | Baltimore | Harrisburg

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 (DOE) + Excellent Benefits & Bonus Program

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent with 8+ years of field leadership experience overseeing ground-up and renovation projects ranging from approximately $100,000 to $6+ million.

 

The Superintendent will be responsible for managing all daily field operations from mobilization through project completion while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on field leader who enjoys building relationships, leading subcontractors, maintaining exceptional jobsite organization, and delivering successful projects.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all day-to-day field operations from groundbreaking through project closeout.
  • Supervise and coordinate all subcontractors and field personnel.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate daily jobsite activities to maintain production and project milestones.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce OSHA safety regulations.
  • Perform quality control inspections throughout construction.
  • Coordinate inspections with local municipalities and governing agencies.
  • Maintain daily reports, photo documentation and three-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Ensure subcontractors perform work according to plans, specifications and company standards.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and site logistics.
  • Identify and resolve field issues proactively.
  • Communicate regularly with the Project Manager regarding schedule, manpower, procurement and project progress.
  • Maintain clean, organized and professional jobsites.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients, architects, inspectors and subcontractors.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of Superintendent experience with a Commercial General Contractor.
  • Strong experience leading ground-up commercial construction projects.
  • Experience with demolition, excavation and site development preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple trades and maintain aggressive construction schedules.
  • Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, scheduling and quality control.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience conducting owner, architect and subcontractor meetings.
  • Experience with Procore preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office.
  • Stable work history with long-term employers.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Work Environment

This position is primarily field-based, with occasional visits to the Barnegat, NJ office for meetings and coordination.

 

Projects are located throughout: New Jersey | Southern New Jersey | Eastern Pennsylvania | Philadelphia | Delaware | Baltimore | Harrisburg

 

Travel: Most projects are completed within driving distance; however, occasional overnight travel may be required. Employees assigned to projects requiring overnight stays or extended travel are provided with appropriate travel reimbursement and overnight accommodations in accordance with company policy. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout the region are required.
