MEP Superintendent

Location: Northern New Jersey

Project Type: Ground-Up & Renovation – Affordable Housing

Salary: $150,000 – $175,000 (based on experience)

Our client, a well-established general contractor specializing in affordable housing construction throughout Northern New Jersey, is seeking an experienced MEP Superintendent to oversee all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aspects of both ground-up and renovation projects.

This role will work closely with the Project Manager and Field Superintendent to ensure all MEP systems are installed properly, on schedule, and in compliance with project specifications and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems on assigned projects.
• Manage and coordinate the work of MEP subcontractors to ensure proper sequencing and installation.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and submittals related to MEP systems.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor quality, safety, and progress of work.
• Coordinate closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent to maintain project schedules.
• Identify and resolve field conflicts between trades and ensure proper system coordination.
• Track and assist with RFIs, submittals, and change orders related to MEP scopes.
• Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and project standards.
• Participate in project meetings with ownership, consultants, and subcontractors.
• Assist with testing, commissioning, and system turnover at project completion.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience overseeing MEP systems on construction projects.
• Experience with ground-up construction and renovation projects, preferably multifamily or affordable housing.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong coordination, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using construction management software such as Procore is a plus.
• OSHA certification preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $150,000 – $175,000 based on experience
