Company

Established in 2018.

Xtra Effort’s client is having global success (Taiwan, Malaysia, and now the US) helping the semiconductor industry improve their manufacturing productivity and quality.

This has been accomplished by engaging Artificial Intelligence to reimagine the manufacturing and quality functions. Their solutions have proven to improve yield and quality across semiconductor foundries, device manufacturers, and outsourced assembly and test companies.

Value Their AI-powered visual examination and defect categorization that automates complex, manual decisions that directly improve production, cost, and customer confidence. The technology has been proven to predict and prevent costly junkets to slash scrap costs, cut cycle times by 30%, and scale output by 30%

Company Mission is to improve manufacturing through factory AI intelligence proven to see all detail, learn from each signal, and make better decisions in real time.

Sample customers: GlobalFoundries, STATSChipPAC, Raytek, and several others globally (Taiwan, US, China, Israel, Singapore)

RoleField Application Engineer with technical acumen to lead the adoption of their AI solutions.

The role pairs deep semiconductor application knowledge with a foundational understanding of system integration.

A pre-sales and post-sales role (60% pre-sales including technical discovery, demos, PoCs/PoVs; and 40% post-sales, including production launch, enablement/training, managing post-delivery debugging and technical escalations)

where you will serve as the primary technical face of the company. You will be the essential "bridge" between cutting-edge technology and the complex, real-world requirements of global semiconductor manufacturers.

Role’s Activities

Semiconductor Manufacturing & Application Expertise, a deep understanding of the fab and OSAT environment

  • Domain Authority: Apply your knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing (front-end or back-end) to contextualize AI results across different devices, layers, and inspection stages.
  • Process Integration: Map AI capabilities to tangible manufacturing value, such as yield improvement, quality risk reduction, and cycle time optimization.
  • Integration Scoping: Partner with clients to design infrastructure and integration strategies that allow software to communicate seamlessly with existing factory systems.
  • Market Insights: Stay ahead of industry trends and evolving inspection technologies to ensure our solutions remain at the forefront of semiconductor innovation.

Sales, Communication & Interpersonal Excellence

  • Strategic Relationship Building: Position yourself as a trusted long-term partner rather than just a vendor, deeply understanding customer pain points and manufacturing constraints.
  • Connecting AI to Value: Lead technical discovery discussions to clearly define problem statements and ensure the AI solution is directly linked to the customer's business goals.
  • Product demos: Lead high-stakes live demos tailored to the customer’s process flow, devices, and inspection stages—showing “how it works” and “why it matters.”
  • PoV ownership (end-to-end): Design and run PoVs/PoCs: align scope, define KPIs, request/validate datasets, execute evaluations on real customer data, and drive weekly technical check-ins.
  • Decision-ready readouts: Present PoV results with clear metrics + business impact (yield, quality risk, cycle time, manpower), and recommend the next step (production launch plan, integration plan, or gaps to close)
  • Persuasive Narratives: Distill complex technical topics into clear, high-impact narratives for both executive decision-makers and deep-dive technical engineers.

AI Fundamentals & Continuous Learning

While you do not need to be an AI developer, you must understand the "logic" of AI in image classification and be eager to master our platform.

  • Fundamental Understanding: Grasp the basic mechanics of image classification, computer vision, and how data quality affects outcomes.
  • Performance Metrics: Understand and communicate essential AI metrics, including accuracy, confidence levels, false positives/negatives, and model stability.
  • PoV → production handoff: Convert PoV learnings into a production launch checklist (data pipeline readiness, model monitoring, retraining triggers, user training, escalation loop)
  • Operational AI: Gain the expertise to manage model behavior in a production environment, including identifying model drift and knowing when retraining is required.
  • Growth Mindset: Demonstrate a strong interest in staying ahead of AI advancements and a willingness to be trained in the deep technical nuances of the AI platform.

Qualifications

  • A profound grasp of AI and machine learning technologies, particularly with an emphasis on image recognition and classification.
  • Demonstrated experience in sales or pre-sales roles, with a strong preference for experience within the semiconductor manufacturing operations applications.
  • Exemplary communication skills, underpinned by an ability to distill complex technical concepts into accessible and persuasive narratives.
  • A self-driven, detail-oriented, and results-centric approach to sales endeavors.
  • Having experience in working clients to design and develop various types of infrastructure options and integration solutions is a bonus
  • Industry Experience: 3-5+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry, ideally in a customer-facing technical role (Field Application, Technical Sales, or Process Engineering).
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Communication: Exceptional presentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to navigate complex customer organizations and handle escalations with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Tech Savvy: Familiarity with manufacturing software environments and a foundational interest in how AI is changing the industry.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to customer sites across USA and occasionally internationally as required.
