The Director of Operational Excellence will be a key member of the Operations management team, responsible for driving strategic initiatives to continuously reduce costs, accelerate build times, and enhance safety in the construction of our multi-tenant homes.
This role combines strategic leadership and hands-on process design: you’ll architect scalable playbook while ensuring new systems are piloted, tested, and successfully implemented across projects. This leader will be a proven innovator and problem solver, leveraging best-in-class methodologies and technologies to ensure delivers class-A housing at class-B cost points.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead process improvement strategies to optimize construction efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance safety and quality across all project phases.
- Deliver construction scalability by creating a world-class Playbook — modular assembly guides and standardized work instructions that allow homes to be built consistently in any region, by any team, at any scale.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve process inefficiencies using data-driven methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.), with a focus on faster and safer assembly of modular buildings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, architecture, engineering, manufacturing, field operations) to pilot and scale innovative solutions, automation, and new building technologies.
- Evaluate and implement digital construction technologies (BIM, automation, robotics, digital twins) to accelerate innovation.
- Map and document workflows, conduct root cause analysis, and benchmark against industry standards to set measurable improvement goals.
- Drive change management by fostering a culture of continuous improvement, engaging and training staff at all levels in new processes and best practices.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cost, speed, safety, and quality; adjust strategies as needed to achieve organizational objectives.
- Oversee process improvement projects from concept through implementation, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budget, and achievement of desired outcomes.
- Provide regular insights and recommendations to senior leadership on operational performance and opportunities for further enhancement.
- Promote knowledge sharing and hands-on leadership to drive a visible and sustainable culture of improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
