Position Summary:
The Vice President of Supply Chain is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain operations. This includes sourcing, procurement and purchasing, pricing strategies, inventory and logistics management, and enterprise data and analytics. The Vice President will work cross-functionally with operations, finance, sales, and executive leadership to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and scalable supply chain performance aligned with corporate goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Supply Chain Leadership
- Develop and implement long-term supply chain strategies aligned with company growth and operational goals.
- Lead supply chain transformation initiatives focused on efficiency, cost control, and service level improvements.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability across the supply chain organization.
2. Purchasing & Procurement
- Direct procurement strategy and vendor management, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery standards are met.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors for raw materials, equipment, and services.
- Negotiate and manage supplier payables and inventory strategies to achieve working capital objectives.
- Establish and maintain procurement policies and systems that support transparency, compliance, and cost control.
- Develop strategies that support material cost reduction, enable efficiencies and deliver service excellence to all TopBuild business units.
3. Pricing Strategy
- Collaborate with finance and sales leadership to establish and maintain competitive, margin-protecting pricing strategies.
- Monitor market trends and supply cost fluctuations to proactively adjust pricing models.
- Leverage data analytics to ensure pricing accuracy and profitability by region, product line, or customer segment.
5. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing supply chain team across multiple functional areas.
- Establish clear performance expectations, career paths, and succession plans for key roles.
- Collaborate with HR to recruit and retain top talent.
6. Fleet, Network & Logistics Optimization
- Coordinate with fleet and logistics team to optimize inbound and outbound shipments throughout the supply chain.
- Maintain digital twin of the business and consistently work to optimize business footprint and logistics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain, preferably within construction, distribution, or related industries.
- Understanding of transportation logistics.
- Proven experience in procurement and vendor negotiations.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience in ERP systems and business intelligence tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and influence cross-functional teams.
- Intermediate-advanced knowledge of the MS Office suite
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience in the Building Material Industry
- Six Sigma or Lean Certification a plus
- Familiarity with ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards in the construction and transportation sectors
