Job Summary


The Director, Warehouse Operations develops and implements strategies and objectives to drive safe and profitable operations for freight warehouses nationwide.


Primary Objectives


• Drive and manage operations at warehouse facilities, including daily operations, equipment utilization, maintenance, operational and capital budget development, financial expenditures, and cost control measures.

• Identify and drive execution of operational efficiency, safety, and business development initiatives.

• Develop and monitor reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive facility performance and service effectiveness.

• Manage, lead, and develop geographically dispersed teams.


Duties and Responsibilities


• Oversee the daily operations of warehousing facilities nationwide.

• Manage and monitor ongoing compliance with safety standards, company policy, and related regulations.

• Implement best practices for inventory management, storage, and distribution.

• Prepare and manage multi-year budgets for warehousing operations.

• Monitor and control operational costs to maximize profitability.

• Analyze financial performance and implement cost-saving initiatives.

• Develop and implement strategic plans for warehousing and distribution operations.

• Align warehousing operations with the overall business goals and objectives.

• Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in freight management.

• Address and resolve any operational issues or customer complaints promptly.

• Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to meet client needs and expectations.

• Identify, implement, and effectively leverage technology and automated solutions to enhance warehousing operations.

• Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational success.

• Prepare and present detailed reports on operational performance to senior management.

• Establish, maintain, and monitor compliance with standard operating procedures and policies.

• Develop and implement procedures for handling, investigating, and mitigating damage claims related to warehousing operations.

• Other duties as assigned.

Education


• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management, or related field, or equivalent combination of coursework and experience in directly-related field required


Licenses


• Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) preferred

• Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) preferred

• Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred


Work Experience


• 10+ years’ related experience in freight warehouse and logistics operaitons required

• 5+ years in a senior management role with budgetary responsibility required

• Experience managing multi-site warehousing operations preferred


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


• Extensive knowledge of warehousing best practices, logistics, and supply chain management.

• Strong knowledge of related federal, state, and local regulations.

• Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to motivate others, resolve conflicts, influence decisions, and lead by example.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey information effectively to a variety of audiences.

• Strong financial acumen and with the ability develop and manage multi-year budgets and projections.

• Ability to identify complex problems, use logic and reasoning to review related information, develop and evaluate options, reach conclusions, and implement solutions.

• Proficiency with warehouse management systems, reporting tools, and other relevant technologies.

• Demonstrated ability to manage "impact without authority" relationships.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of tools.
