The Organization:
Master Magnetics, known as The Magnet Source®, has been delivering practical magnetic solutions since 1976. Today, we are at a massive inflection point. As a highly profitable ~$30M business experiencing 25% year-over-year growth, we’ve built a solid foundation as a trusted partner for retail, industrial, and OEM customers nationwide.
Under new ownership, we are aggressively and strategically expanding into new markets, developing innovative products, and strengthening our supply chains. Our culture thrives on ownership, collaboration, and smart, bold moves that drive growth without sacrificing quality. We are currently rebranding, rapidly expanding our market footprint, and looking for a true financial partner to help us scale from $30M to $100M.
The Position:
We are seeking a dynamic Chief Financial Officer to serve as the first true C-suite hire alongside our CEO. This is not a legacy, maintain-the-status-quo role. We recently transitioned our accounting practices fully to an accrual basis and completed two major audits. Now, we need a builder.
You will initially need to roll up your sleeves, act as a hands-on financial leader, and establish robust financial controls and best practices for our controller-level operations. Once the foundation is rock-solid and the lean accounting team is upskilled, your focus will shift outward and upward: partnering with the CEO on "blue sky" strategy, navigating potential M&A, optimizing massive tariff structures and government rebates, and managing relationships with our Board of Directors, investors, and banking partners.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Growth
-
The Sparring Partner: Serve as the strategic right-hand to the CEO. Bring fresh ideas, challenge assumptions, and help map out the "what’s next" for the company’s explosive growth.
-
Board & Investor Relations: Lead high-level financial conversations, reporting, and strategy sessions with our Board, investors, and PE partners. Prepare executive reporting packages and manage lender communications.
-
M&A and Expansion: Build the financial infrastructure to support future M&A, draft and review complex contracts, and manage capital and liquidity requirements.
Financial Operations & Team Building
-
Own the Close: Improve close discipline and reporting quality. Maintain GAAP-compliant accounting records, reconciliations, accruals, reserves, and controls.
-
Team Development: Lead, train, and grow a lean accounting team (currently a team of 3)
-
Systems & Tech Implementation: Champion the use of modern financial tech. Leverage ERP platforms (Odoo), reporting tools, and emerging AI tools to create templated reporting systems and dashboards.
Manufacturing Finance & Compliance
-
Cost Accounting & Margin Analysis: Own inventory accounting, cost accounting, margin reporting, and product profitability analysis. Bring a deep understanding of COGS, labor, work-in-process (WIP), and time studies.
-
Supply Chain & Tariff Optimization: Support pricing, sourcing, and capital decisions with rigorous financial analysis. Navigate complex tariff structures, imports, freight, and landed costs.
-
Treasury & Risk: Manage cash forecasting, working capital reporting, borrowing base, covenant compliance, and liquidity visibility. Lead audit, tax, and external CPA relationships.
Qualifications:
-
The Background: You might be a VP of Finance at a $100M company looking for your first CFO title, or a rising star with 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience (Big 4 experience is highly desirable) who has since cut their teeth in corporate finance.
-
Education/Certifications: A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. While having both a CPA and an MBA is our ideal scenario, neither is a strict dealbreaker if you have the right mix of technical chops and strategic vision.
-
Manufacturing Expertise: You have a proven background in inventory, cost accounting, manufacturing, distribution, or product-based businesses.
-
Private Equity/Lender Exposure: Experience operating in a private equity-owned or lender-reporting environment (borrowing base, covenants) is highly preferred.
-
A Builder & Problem Solver: You have advanced Excel skills, strong ERP experience, and you don't just point out problems; you build the systems to fix them. You lead with the 80/20 principle — you identify high-leverage financial drivers and cut through noise to deliver rapid results.
-
A Cultural Fit: You are easy-going, fun, and cool, but you can confidently hold your own in a room with billionaires, board members, or engineers. You aren't afraid of healthy debate and can decisively move the chess pieces forward.
-
Present & Engaged: You believe we are "better together." You are excited to be in the Castle Rock office, drive culture, and be a highly visible leader.
Salary & Benefits:
-
Salary: Starting at $200-250k, plus bonus, based on experience
-
This position will be in-person in Castle Rock, relocation assistance available
-
401(k) with company matching
- Health, dental, vision, and life insurance
-
