The Position:
The Associate Wealth Planner plays a critical role in supporting Trailhead’s financial planning and client service efforts. This position focuses on the technical and analytical work behind comprehensive financial plans, allowing Advisors to stay focused on client relationships and strategy.
This role is well suited for someone early to mid-career who is interested in deepening their planning expertise, working collaboratively on a team, and pursuing the CFP® designation. While there is opportunity for growth, this is not a producing Financial Advisor role, and there is no expectation to build a book of business.
Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Gather, organize, and analyze client financial data including income, assets, liabilities, investments, insurance, and cash flow
- Build and update comprehensive financial plans using planning software
- Model scenarios related to retirement, tax strategy, investment allocation, risk management, and major financial decisions
- Conduct research on investments, planning strategies, and relevant regulatory or tax considerations
- Create clear, client-ready reports, visuals, and analyses for advisor review and client meetings
Client & Meeting Support
- Prepare materials for client meetings, including agendas, reports, and projections
- Attend client meetings in a “second chair” capacity as appropriate, providing note-taking and technical support
- Track meeting action items and coordinate follow-up across internal teams
- Respond to routine client questions and service requests, escalating more complex issues as needed
Implementation & Ongoing Service
- Support the implementation of financial plan recommendations under the guidance of Lead Advisors
- Assist with client onboarding, account paperwork, and documentation
- Maintain accurate and timely records in the firm’s CRM
- Monitor and update client plans for annual reviews and life changes
Collaboration & Firm Support
- Partner closely with Lead Advisors, Operations, and Investment team members
- Support business development and marketing efforts as needed
- Contribute to process improvement and documentation to enhance planning efficiency and consistency
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, or a related field
- 1–5 years of experience in financial planning, wealth management, or a related role
- Interest in pursuing the CFP® designation (actively enrolled, in progress or CFP® certificant)
- Experience with financial planning software (eMoney strongly preferred)
- Proficiency in Excel
- Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce or similar)
- Experience supporting client meetings or preparing financial plans
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure
