Position Summary:
Seeking a motivated and experienced Transportation Engineering Director to join our team. This is a strategic leadership role within our growing transportation group, focusing on public sector transportation projects with local municipalities and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, business development skills, and project management experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage transportation engineering projects, including roadway design and Engineer of Record duties.
- Review and approve engineering calculations, plans, and contract documents.
- Prepare and manage design and construction specifications for transportation projects.
- Drive strategic business development efforts: identify, pursue, and secure new projects, particularly with municipalities and FDOT.
- Mentor, train, and support the professional growth of engineering staff.
- Perform QA/QC reviews and support project delivery from concept through construction.
- Administer project contracts, manage budgets, and ensure profitability across assigned projects.
- Forecast and manage workloads for assigned staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Transportation focus preferred)
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida
- 10+ years of transportation engineering experience, including FDOT roadway design
- Strong project management skills and leadership capabilities
- Proficient in MicroStation and OpenRoads
- FDOT Advanced Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Certification preferred
- In-depth knowledge of applicable design codes, standards, and regulations
- Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and work collaboratively
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
