Aviation Project Manager – Civil Engineering

We are seeking an experienced civil engineer with 5–15 years of experience in civil and/or aviation engineering to join our rapidly expanding aviation division. This role will involve managing a variety of projects focused on airport infrastructure, including runway design, airport structures, stormwater management, pavement markings, and site grading. The ideal candidate will have expertise in aviation planning, runway design, and the design of airport structures, but not mechanical engineering for aircraft.

This position offers a competitive salary starting around $75,000 to $80,000 with growth potential based on experience.


We are hiring for locations in Bangor, ME, South Burlington, VT, and Las Cruces, NM.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage airfield projects from initial planning through construction, ensuring compliance with aviation standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the design team to develop detailed designs for airport infrastructure, including runways, taxiways, lighting systems, drainage, and stormwater systems.
  • Evaluate and analyze existing airfield infrastructure, providing recommendations for improvements and upgrades.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of FAA regulations, including Advisory Circulars and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), to ensure project compliance.
  • As the role develops, take on project management duties, including team leadership, client communication, and oversight of the construction phase.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, or the ability to obtain one within 12 months of hire.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software for design and drafting tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of airport planning, runway design, and airport infrastructure, including stormwater systems, site grading, and pavement markings.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills to effectively manage projects and lead a design team.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
