About the Role

This role is a hybrid of Senior Accountant and Client Manager. You will own the day-to-day

accounting and financial operations for a portfolio of clients while serving as their primary

point of contact. Success in this role requires strong technical accounting skills, excellent

organization, and the ability to manage multiple client engagements with a high level of

professionalism and responsiveness.

You will work closely with internal team members (Controllers, CFOs, and junior

accountants) and play a critical role in delivering accurate financials, clean processes, and a

strong client experience.

You are a strong accountant who also enjoys working directly with clients. You are

organized, reliable, and comfortable juggling multiple workstreams. You communicate

clearly, follow through consistently, and take ownership of your responsibilities.

You have experience supporting operating businesses and understand how accounting ties


into payroll, inventory, sales channels, and day-to-day operations. You are detail-oriented

but also able to see the bigger picture.

Key Responsibilities


Client Ownership & Engagement

- Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for assigned client engagements

- Manage client communications, requests, and deliverables

- Maintain clear communication around timelines, outstanding items, and next steps

- Build trusted relationships with founders and operators

- Coordinate internally to ensure high-quality, timely delivery

Accounting & Close

- Book daily and monthly accounting entries

- Perform monthly bank, credit card, loan, and balance sheet reconciliations

- Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)

- Maintain supporting schedules and workpapers

- Assist with cash-to-accrual conversions and historical cleanups

CPG-Specific Accounting (for applicable clients)

- Inventory accounting and reconciliation

- COGS and landed cost entries

- Distributor billbacks, chargebacks, and returns

- Trade spend and customer deductions

- Amazon and Shopify revenue reconciliation

- Product costing and margin analysis

Service & Labor-Focused Accounting (for applicable clients)

- Class or location-based P&Ls

- Labor vs revenue analysis

- Job or department-level profitability

Payroll & People Operations Support

- Process payroll for salaried, hourly, and tipped employees

- Process payroll for variable contractor compensation

- Handle payroll journal entries and reconciliations

- Support benefits deductions, 401(k) contributions, and payroll-related adjustments

- Coordinate with payroll and benefits providers as needed


Reporting & Analysis

- Create client performance reports and KPI summaries

- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

- Support CFOs with ad hoc analysis

Systems & Process Improvement

- Onboard new clients and assist with chart of accounts design

- Help optimize workflows and accounting processes

- Assist with system integrations and data migrations

- Provide feedback on tools and process improvements

Team Support

- Assist and review work from junior team members

- Contribute to internal documentation and best practices


Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

- 4+ years of accounting experience

- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP

- Strong experience with QuickBooks Online

- Strong Excel skills

- Experience managing multiple clients or engagements

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Highly organized with strong attention to detail


Preferred Qualifications

- CPG / inventory accounting experience

- Experience with Shopify, Amazon, Bill.com, Gusto, Cin7, DEAR, SOS Inventory, or similar

tools

- Experience with EDI platforms such as SPS Commerce

- Experience with trade spend, deductions, and distributor accounting

- Systems implementation or data migration experience
