About the Role

You’ll own a territory and grow revenue for hot mix asphalt and aggregates by building long-term relationships with contractors, municipalities, and property owners. The role blends field time (job sites, plants, customer offices) with inside work (quoting, reporting, coordination).

Key Responsibilities

  • Present, promote, and sell asphalt and aggregate products and company services to existing and prospective customers.
  • Conduct needs and cost-benefit analyses; recommend mix designs and products that best meet customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain healthy customer and channel relationships; promptly resolve issues to ensure satisfaction.
  • Hit agreed-upon sales targets and activity metrics; manage pipeline and forecast accurately.
  • Coordinate closely with plant/operations, dispatch, QC, estimating, and finance on pricing, availability, deliveries, and credit.
  • Analyze territory potential; track wins/losses, pricing movements, and competitor activity; surface ideas for new products/services.
  • Prepare timely weekly/monthly reports, including status, margin analysis, and market intel.
  • Help determine pricing schedules for quotes, promotions, and negotiations in line with margin and volume goals.
  • Visit clients and prospects regularly to assess needs and promote offerings; support customer pre-pave meetings and post-job reviews.
  • Continuously improve sales process using internal and client feedback; maintain CRM hygiene and documentation.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional sales experience (construction materials, aggregates, asphalt, ready-mix, paving, or related industrial/B2B preferred).
  • Familiarity with asphalt production/sales is a plus (not required) with willingness to learn mix types, specs, and QC basics.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines, and negotiate win-win outcomes.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM and MS Office/Google Workspace; valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Travel across territory required; occasional early mornings/evenings based on customer and plant schedules.

Physical & Work Environment

  • Regularly sit/stand for 8+ hour shifts; occasionally stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.
  • Lift 25 lbs frequently; carry up to 15 lbs.
  • Work includes outdoor site/plant visits in all weather with exposure to dust, dirt, grease, noise, and common construction substances (e.g., oils, fuels, concrete).
  • Flexible schedule aligned to project and customer demands.
