Traveling Mechanical Project Manager, Mission Critical
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead large mission critical and data center construction projects across the United States. This is a permanent, full time traveling position for a project leader who is comfortable moving from one assignment to the next as projects are completed.
The ideal candidate will come from a mechanical contractor and have direct responsibility for mechanical, process piping, plumbing, HVAC, or related MEP scopes on complex data center or mission critical projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical project execution from preconstruction and mobilization through commissioning and closeout
- Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, procurement, change orders, billing, and cost controls
- Coordinate mechanical, plumbing, process piping, HVAC, electrical, controls, and commissioning activities
- Direct field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and project support staff
- Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, equipment requirements, and construction documentation
- Maintain strong communication with clients, general contractors, design teams, trade partners, and internal leadership
- Identify project risks and resolve field, schedule, procurement, and coordination issues
- Maintain high standards for safety, quality, documentation, and project delivery
Qualifications
- Project Manager or Senior Project Manager experience with a mechanical contractor
- Direct mission critical or data center construction experience required
- Strong mechanical construction knowledge involving process piping, plumbing, HVAC, fabrication, or MEP coordination
- Demonstrated ownership of project financials, schedules, change management, subcontractors, and client relationships
- Experience coordinating startup, testing, commissioning, and closeout activities
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem solving skills
- Ability and willingness to maintain a long term national travel schedule
Initial assignments may include Kentucky or West Texas, followed by additional project rotations throughout the country.
