As we continue to grow, we are seeking a driven and experienced Quality Control Manager to lead and enhance our Quality Control Department. This is a critical leadership role requiring a proactive self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Position Overview:
The Quality Control Manager will be responsible for building and managing the Quality Control (QC) function within the organization. This person will ensure all fabrication processes meet company, client, and regulatory quality standards. The successful candidate will be a key member of our leadership team, driving quality initiatives and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
- Manage and mentor a team of quality control personnel.
- Perform and oversee weld inspections, blueprint reviews, and other QC activities specific to steel fabrication.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes, client specifications, and internal quality standards.
- Prepare for and manage external quality audits.
- Recommend and implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with operations, production, and project management teams to drive a culture of quality.
- Develop and maintain documentation, inspection records, and reports.
- Interface with clients and third-party inspectors as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of quality control experience specifically in the steel fabrication industry (weld inspections, blueprint reading).
- Proven experience creating, modifying, and managing a Quality Management System (QMS).
- Prior management experience with direct reports (minimum 1-2 years).
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications (we expect candidates to meet at least 75% of these):
- Experience overseeing external quality audits.
- Experience recommending and implementing continuous improvement and corrective actions.
- Strong understanding of pipeline fabrication processes.
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication.
- Familiarity with NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) inspections.
- Hands-on fabrication experience (welding and steel fabrication).
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Experience with ASME code requirements (pressure vessels).
- Knowledge of industrial coating systems.
- Familiarity with AWWA code requirements.
