Senior Project Manager, Traffic Engineering
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex traffic and transportation engineering projects in Houston and throughout Texas. This position will manage technical delivery, client relationships, project teams, and business development efforts across private and public sector assignments.
The ideal candidate will combine strong roadway and traffic design experience with the ability to serve as a client facing project leader. Experience with traffic impact studies is valuable, but this role requires broader transportation design capabilities involving roadways, intersections, traffic signals, access, and mobility improvements.
Responsibilities
- Lead traffic and transportation engineering projects from planning through final design and construction support
- Manage roadway, intersection, traffic signal, parking, access, and circulation design assignments
- Oversee traffic impact analyses, traffic studies, signal warrants, operational analyses, and supporting technical reports
- Coordinate permitting and approvals with TxDOT, municipalities, counties, and other reviewing agencies
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, technical quality, and client expectations
- Prepare and review plans, specifications, estimates, proposals, reports, and permit packages
- Build and maintain client relationships while supporting pursuits, presentations, and business development
- Mentor engineers and designers while helping grow the Houston transportation practice
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- At least ten years of progressive traffic or transportation engineering experience, with twelve or more years preferred
- Active Professional Engineer license required, with Texas licensure strongly preferred
- Strong roadway, intersection, traffic signal, access, and transportation design experience
- Experience with traffic impact analyses, traffic studies, permitting, and agency coordination
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and experience with MicroStation or OpenRoads
- Houston or Texas market knowledge and established client relationships preferred
- Demonstrated project leadership, team development, client management, and business development ability
