A Day in the Life of the Field Technician

As a Field Technician, your main task is to install internet services for our customers. You act as one of our principal contacts for customers. The Field Technician/Installer is a valued team member that plays a key role in providing positive customer experiences, representing the brand, and impacting the department's changes

Responsibilities include:

• Work with the CSR Team on Dispatching and effectively managing the Dispatch Calendar
• Provide outstanding Customer Service and account details to each customer
• Perform Site Surveys for potential customers to determine connectivity ability
• Install new customers with internet service
• Mount equipment on roof or eave of customer location
• Run Ethernet cable (Cat 5 or Cat 6) from outside to inside consumer home
• Configure in-home router and other devices and ensure connectivity
• Completes basic performance testing of installed services
• Visits neighbors of each new installed customer to promote e8 Internet
• Recommend and sell equipment upgrades, where needed.
• Perform equipment upgrades for customers
• Diagnose and troubleshoot customer issues and restore functionality, for both software and hardware
• Update and maintain account details with accurate data, enter data as received
• Maintains clean work area at all locations
• Maintains inventory of all equipment, tools and wireless devices and keeps in good repair
• Maintains company vehicle and other equipment, keeps appropriate logs and maintenance checks
• Operates company vehicle in a safe and courteous manner, in accordance with all laws and company policies
• Other duties as required.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age, with a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and good driving record
• Must be able to pass a Background Check and Drug Test
• 2 years of experience in a similar role as a field technician or internet installer
• Able to read, interpret and understand technical information and clearly communicate to non-technical audiences
• Able to perform daily travel within company geographic area
• Solid understanding of basic networking and connectivity hardware and software
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, must speak clearly and professionally
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to operate systems remotely, and prioritize new issues rapidly
