Work Environment: Hybrid (#2 of days WFH)

Term: Contract (6 months with possible opportunity of conversion to full-time)

Job Description

A well-established, nationally recognized litigation firm is a temp to perm Legal Assistants to support its Los Angeles office. This role will provide high-level administrative and litigation support to attorneys handling a variety of civil litigation matters, including general liability, warranty, and construction-related cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, edit, format, and finalize a wide range of legal documents including correspondence, memoranda, pleadings, discovery, motions, and briefs
  • File and serve legal documents in California state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with applicable rules and deadlines
  • Communicate professionally with courts, opposing counsel, clients, and vendors
  • Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling court appearances, depositions, meetings, and deadlines
  • Open and maintain case files, ensuring accurate organization of both physical and electronic documents
  • Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, coordinating witnesses, and preparing trial materials
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and logistics for attorneys, depositions, and meetings
  • Process vendor invoices, prepare check requests, and handle expense reimbursements
  • Enter attorney time into the firm’s timekeeping system accurately and in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with attorneys and team members to support overall workflow and case management
  • Perform general administrative duties such as filing, scanning, copying, and managing office supplies


Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a legal assistant in a civil litigation environment
  • Strong knowledge of California state and federal court procedures and rules
  • Solid understanding of civil litigation processes, legal terminology, and court deadlines
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • High attention to detail with strong proofreading and document formatting skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and electronic filing systems
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Proven ability to manage a high-volume workload in a deadline-driven environment
