Job Description:

A well-established law firm is seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Paralegal to support two attorneys across a variety of practice areas. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic are valued.

The practice areas include family law, civil and criminal litigation, personal injury, traffic, guardianships, adoptions, real estate, and collections.

The ideal candidate is personable, self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to contribute to the team's success. This individual must be comfortable following established procedures, taking direction, managing competing priorities, and assisting colleagues when needed. The role will initially support two attorneys, with responsibilities evolving as the firm's needs change. The ideal candidate understands that working in a smaller law firm requires teamwork, flexibility, and a willingness to step in and help when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day paralegal and administrative support to attorneys, including case preparation, document management, scheduling, and client communication.
  • Prepare, proofread, organize, and file pleadings, correspondence, legal documents, and other case-related materials.
  • Maintain accurate calendars, deadlines, appointments, and court dates, ensuring time-sensitive matters are handled promptly.
  • Manage incoming phone calls, take accurate messages, and ensure client inquiries are addressed professionally and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date physical and electronic case files in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assist with billing, timekeeping, and other attorney support functions as assigned.
  • Assist with administrative responsibilities related to firm programs, records, renewals, and other operational needs.
  • Follow established office procedures and attorney instructions while exercising sound judgment and discretion.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive client and firm information.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and colleagues, providing coverage and assisting with additional responsibilities during employee absences or periods of increased workload.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and transition efficiently between files, tasks, and practice areas while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of three years of paralegal experience is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional telephone etiquette and active listening.
  • Ability to follow instructions, adhere to firm policies, and accept direction and feedback.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, punctuality, and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency in typing, Microsoft Office, and general computer applications.
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Flexibility and willingness to assist with responsibilities outside one's immediate assignment when business needs require.
  • Professionalism, sound judgment, discretion, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
