Position Overview

A growing professional services organization supporting companies within the life sciences sector is seeking an experienced Controller to provide financial and accounting leadership across a dynamic client portfolio.

This individual will oversee core accounting activities, ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and partner with business leaders to provide meaningful financial insights. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations and financial reporting for assigned businesses or clients.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reporting, and account reconciliations.
• Maintain appropriate accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Manage cash flow reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
• Partner with leadership to provide financial analysis and support strategic decision-making.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and other financial partners.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and financial systems.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support organizations through periods of growth, financing, transactions, or operational change.
• Mentor and develop accounting team members as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller or comparable leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience managing month-end close, financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience within life sciences, biotechnology, professional services, or venture-backed organizations preferred.
• Experience supporting multiple entities or clients is a plus.
