Technical Program Manager

Location: Wakefield, MA


Our client, a growing engineering and advanced manufacturing organization, is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead complex technical programs from initial concept through delivery. This individual will serve as a key link between customers, engineering teams, operations, and other internal stakeholders to ensure programs are executed on time, within scope, and in alignment with customer expectations.


The ideal candidate combines strong program management skills with enough technical depth to effectively work alongside engineers and understand complex products and systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex technical programs from initial planning and development through production and delivery
  • Serve as a primary point of coordination between customers, engineering, operations, and other cross-functional teams
  • Develop and manage project schedules, milestones, budgets, risks, and deliverables
  • Track program performance and proactively identify potential delays, technical challenges, or resource constraints
  • Facilitate technical and program reviews with internal teams and customers
  • Translate customer requirements into clear priorities and actionable plans for engineering and operations teams
  • Coordinate resources across multiple projects and technical disciplines
  • Maintain clear documentation and provide regular updates to leadership and key stakeholders
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to program execution, processes, and customer delivery


Ideal Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a technical discipline, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in technical program management, project management, engineering, or a related role
  • Experience working within an engineering, advanced manufacturing, or highly technical product environment
  • Strong understanding of the product development and manufacturing lifecycle
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects and competing priorities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience managing customer-facing technical programs is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with optical, imaging, aerospace, defense, medical device, semiconductor, or other precision-engineered technologies is a plus
