Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care
Board Director (Voluntary)
Whether we were born in Canada or immigrated here from another country, we are all settlers on unceded Indigenous lands. Yee Hong gratefully acknowledges that they are located and operate on the unceded traditional lands of many nations, including the Haudenosaunee, Huron-Wendat, Anishnabeg, Seneca, Chippewa, and the current treaty holders Mississaugas of the Credit Peoples.
Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care is one of Canada’s largest and most respected not-for-profit organizations providing culturally appropriate, person-centred care for seniors. Since its founding in 1994, Yee Hong has delivered a full continuum of services to over 15,000 seniors annually across the Greater Toronto Area, from active seniors’ programs and home support to long-term care and palliative care. Rooted in a vision of enabling seniors to live their lives to the fullest, with independence, health and dignity, Yee Hong blends clinical excellence with cultural humility and innovation. With deep expertise serving Asian Canadian communities, including Chinese, Japanese, South Asian and Filipino seniors, Yee Hong continues to evolve as a leader in equitable, inclusive care that meets the diverse needs of Canada’s aging population.
Yee Hong is currently inviting nominations and applications for the role of Board Director. This is an exciting opportunity for values-driven leaders to contribute to an award-winning organization entering a period of meaningful expansion, including the opening of its fifth long-term care home in 2026.

Among the qualifications being sought in candidates, the incoming leader must have a deep and abiding commitment to advancing reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in all its forms and must believe, intrinsically, in the importance of leading with curiosity and welcoming ideas that can later be synthesized and turned into possibility. While all candidates are encouraged to apply and, in so doing, share how they see themselves adding value to the Yee Hong environment, the following credentials and/or experiences are seen as possible markers of the candidates most likely to realize success in the role:

How to Apply
Equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are more than buzzwords at Yee Hong; they’re guiding lights. Since opening their doors in 1994, they have been dedicated to embedding the principles and spirit of EDI in everything they do by practicing three distinct values: caring, collaboration and commitment. They care by demonstrating compassion toward others, seeking to understand and support one another, respecting diversity, promoting inclusion, and encouraging individuals to live independently and make their own choices; they collaborate by working as a united team to pursue a shared vision, embrace opportunities for growth, address challenges, and make a meaningful impact on clients, staff, and the broader community, and; they commit to continuous learning, innovation, and improvement, while also championing equity and social justice, and empowering people to live as their authentic selves.
