New Venture and Technology Scouting Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Bring external startup innovation to solve customers’ toughest problems and complement world class innovation capabilities.
  • Collaborate closely with Strategic Business Units (SBU) to define search fields and specific problem areas for scouting according to business & innovation strategy.
  • Screen deal flow from wide variety of sources to identify relevant startup longlists for prioritized search fields; identify new sources of deal flow.
  • Evaluate startups according to pre-defined criteria (contribute to enhancement of criteria through thought leadership).
  • Discuss startups with the relevant business stakeholders and initiate next steps with an entrepreneurial mindset and can-do attitude.
  • Represent Company and Startup Scouting activities at various external events and shape presence and collaboration options creatively as an entrepreneur.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of Startup Scouting team, activities and capabilities.


BACKGROUND PROFILE:


  • Senior academic degree (Master or PhD) in science (preferably polymer chemistry or material science) and 10+ years work experience.
  • Strong technical know-how in adhesive technologies and relevant applications and industries.
  • Strong strategic skills and excellent business acumen.
  • Pro-active working mode and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Superb communication skills (written and oral) and excellent stakeholder management.
  • Strong track record and savviness in disruptive innovation/business building with startups.
  • Ideally, previous experience with startups, startup scouting (incl. relevant tools, processes and methodologies).
