Mission Critical Project Leader/Engineer

Lead the customer relationship. Shape the solution. Deliver the project.

A national leader in mission-critical electrical and power systems is seeking a Project Leader/Engineer to help customers plan and deliver critical-power and precision-cooling projects across the United States and internationally.

This role combines engineering judgment, customer relationships, commercial responsibility, and hands-on project leadership. You’ll work with customers to understand their objectives, develop practical solutions, and guide projects from initial site assessment and design through estimating, proposals, construction, commissioning, and closeout.

The portfolio includes individual projects ranging from $500,000 to $10 million, with more than $30 million in annual project activity across multiple locations.

Your impact

Become a trusted customer partner.

Build relationships with government and commercial customers. Translate technical requirements into clear recommendations, communicate progress, and resolve issues with accountability and sound judgment.

Own the full project lifecycle.

Lead site assessments, engineering and design coordination, cost estimating, proposals, permitting, procurement, field execution, commissioning, and turnover. Maintain continuity between what is proposed and what is delivered.

Bring technical and commercial decisions together.

Review drawings, specifications, and partially developed designs. Coordinate the remaining design work and prepare complete estimates that account for scope, equipment, labor, schedule, and project risk.

Lead multidisciplinary teams.

Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, subcontractors, and field leadership. Align staffing and resources with project commitments, including recruiting and onboarding support when needed.

Keep projects financially and operationally on track.

Develop budgets, cost codes, resource plans, and critical-path schedules. Monitor costs, cash flow, staffing forecasts, billing, purchase orders, and change orders. Give customers and leadership a clear picture of progress and emerging risks.

Deliver a complete handover.

Drive punch-list completion, accurate as-built drawings, operating and maintenance manuals, and required closeout documentation.

What you bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • At least 10 years of electrical project management experience, including five or more years managing mission-critical power and precision-cooling projects.
  • Experience designing and building critical-environment solutions, with ownership of projects ranging from $500,000 to $10 million.
  • Experience with federal contracting and secure facilities.
  • The ability to interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, specifications, contracts, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Strong estimating, scheduling, financial forecasting, and project-controls capabilities.
  • The confidence to work effectively with customers, executives, engineers, subcontractors, and field teams.
  • Clear written communication, strong organization, and a practical approach to solving problems.

Additional experience valued

  • International project delivery and experience navigating different regulatory and cultural environments.
  • Accubid and Accubid Change Order, Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, and AutoCAD.
  • PMP certification or an advanced degree in a relevant technical discipline.

Travel and site access

Expect domestic and international travel for customer meetings, site assessments, engineering coordination, and periodic field supervision.

Candidates must be able to access secure government facilities and be eligible to obtain, or currently hold, a Top Secret security clearance. International assignments also require the ability to obtain applicable work permits. A valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and reliable transportation are required.
