Job Summary:


May work independently or with a helper to gather detailed information on utility poles, electrical distribution and telecommunication lines, pole attachments, wire heights and any other information necessary for the purpose of pole loading, permitting, design planning, and/or drafting. 


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Install and setup various types of equipment, such as computer systems, networking devices, telecommunications devices, or machinery

·      Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment to ensure proper functionality and prevent issues, to include diagnose and troubleshoot problems, repair or replace defective parts

·      Provide technical assistance to customers or end users by responding to inquiries, address concerns, and guide users in resolving technical problems either remote or on-site

·      Travel to customer locations to perform site visits, inspections, or audits while assessing equipment performance, identify potential issues and make recommendations for improvement

·      Maintain accurate records of their activities, to include service calls, repairs, and maintenance performed

·      Document reports on equipment status, issues encountered, and solutions implemented

·      Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working on-site while ensuring all installations and repairs comply with relevant industry standards and guidelines

·      Conduct tests and calibrations on equipment to ensure accuracy and precision

·      Collaborate with colleagues, such as technical support teams, engineers, or supervisors to communicate updates, share information, and seek assistance or guidance where needed

·      Manage inventory levels of spare parts, tools, or equipment needed for repairs or installations

·      Collects accurate and complete data for permits, easements, and right of ways in a timely manner

·      Able to identify most pole attachments

·      Interpret and understand field sheet notes, schematics, maps, and drawings

·      Produce routine and project specific correspondence in a neat, timely, and legible manner

·      Track time spent on jobs, the mileage and materials needed to perform duties

·      Perform all other duties as assigned


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

·      High school diploma or equivalent

·      2 years of previous experience in telecommunications and/or electrical utilities


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABLITIES

·      Knowledge of the equipment, systems, or technology, to include hardware and software, machinery to include their components, functionality and troubleshooting methods

·      Knowledge in handling tools, equipment, and instruments required for installation, maintenance, or repairs

·      Knowledge in reading technical manuals, schematics, or diagrams

·      Knowledge with easements and right of ways

·      Skill to be a problem solver with identifying and diagnosing technical issues in a timely manner

·      Skill in effective communication both written and verbal to interact with customers, colleagues, and supervisors

·      Skill to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple assignments simultaneously

·      Ability to work in different environments, adapt to changing circumstances, and handle unexpected challenges

·      Ability to have a keen eye for detail during installations, configurations, or repairs to ensure accuracy to avoid mistakes

·      Ability to create and maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including service reports, inventory records, and equipment histories

·      Ability to collaborate with colleagues, share knowledge, and seek assistance when needed

·      Ability to work independently while also being a reliable team player

·      Ability to perform tasks that may require lifting heavy equipment, crawling in tight spaces, or working at heights

·      Ability to travel to different client sites and work in various environments

·      Ability to stay up to date with latest technological advancements, industry trends, and best practices through self-study, training, or certifications


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time (2-3 hours) with the ability to move at will; have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; have hearing and speech skills to communicate in person, over the telephone or Teams/Skype/Zoom; have use of hands to finger, handle, type, or feel and manipulate mouse, keyboard, and computer equipment.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Hybrid working conditions exist in either a home office environment and/or work office or job site. Must possess ability to follow general safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE. Must be able to attend meetings at various sites within and away from the Firm.
