Job Summary:

  • This position is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance/quality control group within Telecommunication Design Services. This group is responsible for reviewing design work to ensure the completion of accurate, complete and timely drawing sets. Attention to detail and keen analytical skills are important. This employee must also be familiar with pole loading analysis, read and understand various telecommunication schematics and designs and differentiates between client specific standards, procedures, and requirements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

· Manage the QA/QC team and coordinate the timely review of telecom and pole loading drawings from various business units for construction projects.

· Create and maintain company policies and QA/QC procedures to ensure standards and regulations of the natural gas distribution and pipeline industries, as well as client expectations are met.

· Be aware of various clients’, national and international codes and specifications and exposure to documentation in line with ISO 9001 quality, related to oil and gas engineering and construction.

· Supervise project quality to ensure compliance to codes, standards, regulations, equipment specific specifications, and QMS (spell out) requirements.

· Review project proposals and provide initial project set-up for drafting natural gas distribution, pipeline and liquid terminal facilities.

· Recommend training for Designers & Drafters and project closeout.

· Establish and maintain professional working relationships.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate of Applied Science degree (AAS) in Design and Drafting Technology
  • Minimum ten years’ experience in design drafting.
  • Prior management experience in the gas pipeline industry preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation software and working knowledge of Civil 3D. Ability to perform design drafting in a 3D environment is a plus.
  • Familiar with programming in Autolisp for AutoCAD.
  • Strong communication skills to be able to lead and motivate others.
  • Ability to manage a team of subordinates.
  • Outstanding work ethic with desire to work in a production environment.
  • Obtain or pursuing PE big plus!!

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, and to attend meetings at various sites within and away from the Firm; must also be able to work at a desk for long periods of time (2-3 hours); strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
