What You’ll Do

The Design Technician applies developing technical skills and oversight of work, using light power tools, to solve simple utility pole problems.

Required Qualifications

• Responsibilities may include GPS survey, overhead/underground line locating, inspections, testing, and documentation of power distribution, ROW (Right of Way), compressors, and other related facilities. Completes design task for associated utility design projects. Tasks include but are not limited to drafting, engineering calculations, easement validation; design/construction cost estimating & permit package development.
• Managing multiple projects in order to assure timely, successful completion for projects resulting in high levels of customer satisfaction and company/departmental goal achievements.
• Must be comfortable reading and interpreting technical documentation including blueprints, construction specifications and other items.
• Ability to review Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for update or conflict. 
• 1-3 years of general construction or utility experience preferred.
• Ability to understand instructions and independently carry out instructed tasks.
• Detail and quality oriented. Must be comfortable reading and interpreting technical documentation including blueprints, construction specifications and other items. Strong communication and customer facing skills.
• Must have own vehicle and ability to travel locally, if required.
• Minimum High School Diploma/GED Equivalent, required.

 Preferred Qualifications

• Technical certificate in drafting or other technical skill preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Basic design skills, AutoCAD or MicroStation knowledge required.

Additional Requirements

·        The Design Tech works in a hybrid capacity, in office for EN team and client meetings.

·        Will be exposed to extreme weather conditions and occasional wildlife in rural areas.

• Benefits & Salary: This position pays between $22.00 - $29 hourly and is a non-exempt position.
• Benefits offered include company sponsored medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plan with company match.
