JOB SUMMARY

The Project Manager, Data Solutions plays a strategic role in the development of our consulting services by directing projects and resources within the respective area of their technical specialty. The primary purpose of this position is to provide delivery of the budgeted revenue and gross profit for the respective business line, while providing ongoing staff oversight. This individual will also partner with Strategic Account Managers and seller doers across the company to facilitate the coordination and development of client project opportunities against staff capability.


This position is responsible for managing multiple large projects concurrently; direct supervisory responsibilities for other staff members that may include other Project Managers or senior technical leads for specific project responsibilities of large and complex projects. The Project Manager also supports the strategic role in the development of our consulting services by identifying and pursuing strategic opportunities to expand our technical services and capabilities.


This role will be highly skilled in the use of leveraging GIS technology to manage utility assets, including data analysis, data management, technology strategy and business centric development.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing all projects that are assigned by the Business Unit Leader (BUL) to ensure the projects meet all required project measurements and indicators for performance which have been set by either the client or internally. These performance indicators include, but are not limited to, schedule performance, project budget performance, project profitability, client relationship and satisfaction, and project quality control.
  • Maintaining, implementing and monitoring a system of quality control and check on all projects assigned
  • Maintaining a system to accurately forecast fee revenue on an ongoing monthly basis
  • Monitoring the training needs of individual staff members whom are direct reports and identifying and scheduling training programs with the BUL
  • Assisting in developing strategic plans for the Business Unit and assisting with developing and implementing programs to achieve strategic growth plans for the Business Unit and Firm
  • Assisting with identifying the resource needs of the Business Unit by tracking resource requirements of all projects assigned on an ongoing basis and communicating the resource needs to the BUL
  • Assisting the BUL in identifying key talent and resources within or for the Business Unit
  • Preparing or assisting in preparing proposals
  • Participating in sales calls and client presentations
  • Developing and maintaining quality relationships with clients
  • Maintaining a collaborative spirit in working with other Business Units providing the most optimum project team for projects often using personnel from multiple Business Units
  • Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as necessary


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Geospatial Technology, Computer science from an accredited university or equivalent technical degree
  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience. Minimum of 5 years of work experience in the electric industry. At least 5 years of the work experience must be related to IT, GIS and data applications
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with ESRI-based products
  • IT and or Agile project management experience is a plus
  • Collaborative approach to problem solving

§ Project Management Credentials/Certifications Preferred (e.g. Scrum Master, PMP, Six Sigma Black Belt, etc.)

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABLITIES

  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to non-technical and technical audiences
  • Proficiency with the Esri technology platform applied to electric utilities
  • Awareness of Smallworld for electric utilities
  • Ability to design project execution plans leveraging SME input and then lead the execution of the established project plan using a variety of team skill levels
  • Ability to mentor staff and team members in best practices and guide them to relevant training information for short term project goals and long-term career goals
  • Involvement in industry groups, such as IEEE, Esri user groups, or other relevant industry focused organizations
  • Awareness of technology advancements and potential evolutions impacting the utility space
  • Experience working with electric engineering teams and an understanding of the electric use cases and utility technology system drivers

§ Experience with various technology implementation patterns including service-oriented and cloud computing architecture is a plus

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time (2-3 hours) with the ability to move at will; have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; have hearing and speech skills to communicate in person, over the telephone or Teams/Skype/Zoom; have use of hands to finger, handle, type, or feel and manipulate mouse, keyboard, and computer equipment.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Hybrid working conditions exist in either a home office environment and/or work office or job site. Must possess ability to follow general safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE. Must be able to attend meetings at various sites within and away from the Firm. Must be able to travel overnight to other company office locations and/or client sites
