Purpose of Job:

The Sr. Design Engineer is responsible for performing engineering design on a variety of engineering tasks both independently and with ongoing supervision. The Sr. Design Engineer receives technical guidance on new design topics that have not been experienced previously. The Sr. Design Engineer will work closely with senior engineers on typical engineering assignments tasks which are not familiar to the Sr. Design Engineer.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Applies technical knowledge to designs and ensures projects meet specifications
• Shares information with team as well as question internal and external Stakeholders to appreciate the design requirements and nuances of tasks
• Communicates challenges regarding scope, cost, schedule, and quality
• Works with Designers and Drafters to complete design packages
• Supports the preparation of simple and medium designs or small portions of larger projects, including calculations and drawings
• Leads the development of their discipline's design on simple projects, and supports complex projects, including moderate difficulty technical analyses
• Understands and applies appropriate industry codes, standards, and regulations
• Identifies information to be communicated to the client and project stakeholders through team leads and project managers.
• Conducts communications in a professional and clear manner; communications are timely and in an appropriate format for the topic.
• Supports team interactions with Clients and vendors
• Assists the Design Coordinator evaluate design personnel and assigns design related tasks to Designers and Drafters via the Design Coordinator
• Ensures the work products prepared under their control follow established ENE and client procedures, including quality control, document control, procurement, and other pertinent policies
• Self-checks work assignments prior to submitting for review, completes work with minimal errors. Participates in peer reviews and QC reviews.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education, Certifications and/or Experienced Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from ABET accredited university and 0-2 years of relevant industry experience
• Experience within the gas utilities industry a plus
• Knowledge of National Electric Code Book
• Willingness to learn
• Strong work ethic with desire to work in a production environment

Working Conditions and Environmental/Physical Demands:

Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time (2-3 hours) with the ability to move at will; have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; have hearing and speech skills to communicate in person, over the telephone or Teams/Skype/Zoom; have use of hands to finger, handle, type, or feel and manipulate mouse, keyboard, and computer equipment. Hybrid working conditions exist in either a home office environment and/or work office or job site. Must possess ability to follow general safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE. Must be able to attend meetings at various sites within and away from the Firm.
