POSITION: SENIOR CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT EMPLOYEE

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION


DUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


1. Assist with all reporting associated with inspections and construction management.

2. Verify daily production quantities of Construction Contractor.

3. Make field level decisions related to construction contractor questions.

4. Provide information as it relates to potential change orders.

5. Monitor quantities as it relates to contractor working in subsurface rocky conditions

6. Update project internal workflow procedures and documentation as requested

7. Supports the project by communicating timelines, milestones, deliverables, quality control, project concerns or risks.

8. Oversee all contractor crews working on the project. Be on jobsite while construction contractors are working.

9. Ensure crews follow all standards related to the project.

10. Participate in any project calls.

11. Maintain and produce project reports. 

12. Coordinate daily with construction contractor to include the following:

a. Ensure all utility locates have been called in

b. Participate in team calls – provide agenda notes, and action items

c. Verify as-builts and redlines are getting completed- to include bore logs and vault laydowns (butterfly drawings)

d. Assist with coordination of permitting and permit close out.

13. Meets with clients to for project status meetings and communicates with client and vendors daily.

14. Represent the interests of Magellan Advisors in a professional manner with governmental, municipal, and related industry organizations.

15. Maintain relationships with utility companies for all construction related work in the right of way.

16. Manage relationships with engineers who are designing the plant; work closely with staff responsible for designing, drawing, and sketching installation and location of equipment such as fiber enclosures, FTPs, switches, cables; complete material orders needed for planned construction.

17. Ensure staff is communicating and providing timely updates to Project Manager or designated supervisor regarding concerns about construction progress.

18. Road warrior position. Employee will be stationed in various markets for weeks at a time to cover for employee/contractor vacations, training of new hires, supporting projects in need.

Education/Experience:

College degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience. 15 years Cable Television, Telecommunications or Fiber-Optic technical experience. 10-15 years of experience in working and/or supervising a telecommunications construction department.


Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:

• Knowledge of National Electrical Codes and G. O. 95 and 128

• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record

• Ability to prioritize and organize effectively

• Ability to supervise and motivate others

• Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i. e. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.)

• Ability to travel up to 50% • Must be knowledgeable in Aerial Cable Construction Practices

• Must be knowledgeable in Buried Cable Construction Practices

• Must be able to read and Interpret Engineered Drawings.

• Ability to design in the field and Redline Engineered Drawings. • Ability to manage field crews

Additional Qualifications:

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.


Math Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft PowerPoint.
