What You’ll Do:

• Monitors circuit configuration changes and loading on existing distribution circuits
• Analyzes existing facilities to compile feasible alternatives for distribution system changes
• Assigns circuit connection points for large services and specify system requirements in proposed new subdivisions
• Performs fault current calculation and implements system coordination
• Initiates and coordinates protective device and switch installations
• Posts planned circuit changes on circuit maps
• Reviews circuit for subdivision growth, large commercial load data, and circuit configuration changes and updates the Load Forecast
• Develops system improvement plans from the Long Range Plan (circuit reconfiguration, voltage conversions, line extensions, phase balance, system ties, conductor upgrade, switch installs, capacitor bank installs, electronic recloser installs, voltage regulator bank installs, etc)
• Coordinates planning, design and construction with internal and external personnel for system improvement plan

Required Qualifications:

• Ability to become proficient with Distribution Planning Software applications including Cyme, GIS and Microstation
• Ability to understand Distribution Planning work standards and requirements for both Overhead and Underground
• Ability to maintain focus under pressure, set priorities, and execute tasks required to normalize the situation
• Ability to work independently to develop solutions with minimal supervision
• Effective communication skills focused on understanding customer needs and developing resolutio

Preferred Qualifications:

• BS degree in electrical engineering
• 2-4 years of experience in electric distribution utility design
• The ability to pick up new concepts quickly and interface professionally with a major client is critical
