Job Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting the Renewable Gas group within the Emerging Energy Solutions (EES) Sector of ENTRUST. The Renewable Gas Project Engineer is a technical position focused completing engineering design and consulting project execution. The EES Renewable Gas group focuses on Hydrogen, Renewable Natural Gas and other emerging energy technology projects within the natural gas industry. These projects could also include industrial client projects as well. The projects focus on providing engineering and consulting services to clients interested in reducing carbon emissions and/or implementing a decarbonization plan. The key industry focus will be with current Natural Gas Utilities and Midstream clients. The core services required will be Renewable Gas design services.

 

This position is responsible for performing engineering design on a variety of engineering tasks with ongoing supervision. The Design Engineer receives technical guidance on new design topics that have not been experienced by the Design Engineer. The Design Engineer will work closely with other senior engineers on typical engineering assignments tasks which are not familiar to the Design Engineer.

 

Responsibilities:


  • Performing a variety of basic engineering tasks to assist in the production of plans, specifications, reports, diagrams, and engineering documents with supervision by other engineers and supervisors
  • Developing contacts with key engineers and officials in other organizations to confirm that engineering practices applied are consistent with current engineering regulatory requirements, and current technological innovations
  • Providing input to Project Managers and other business leaders concerning potential process and design improvements related to engineering design and tech
  • Following systems of quality control and checking on all projects assigned
  • Assisting in preparing proposals for the business unit by estimating engineering hours as an engineering discipline lead
  • Developing and maintaining quality relationships with clients
  • Maintaining a collaborative spirit in working with within the Business Sector and with other BUs
  • Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as necessary

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university
  • Registration as a professional engineer is highly preferred (open to working on PE, less of a requirement especially on the gas side)
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience with at least 2 years of work experience in the pipeline industry or a related renewable energy industry.
  • Collaborative approach to problem solving
  • Experience with AutoCAD or Micro-Station
  • Enthusiasm to be a part of the team and open to learn new skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Unquestioned business and personal integrity
  • Ability and desire to travel 3 to 4 times a month to Chicago or Client (20-50% Travel) as needed
  • Leadership qualities a plus

 

Physical Requirements:

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, and to attend meetings at various sites within and away from the Firm; must also be able to work at a desk for long periods of time (2-3 hours); strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

 

This position pays between $85,000 and $100,000 annually and is an exempt position.
