What You’ll Do:

The Project Accountant will be an integral part of the accounting team and will manage the financial aspects of individual projects, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and financial regulations.  

Collaborating closely with project managers and other stakeholders to monitor project expenses, revenue, and prepare project reports.

Ability to be a resource to the product line and serve as a liaison between the product line and accounting team.

 

 

As a Project Accountant you will be responsible for:

  • Develop project budgets in collaboration with project managers, monitor spending against budget allocations, and identify variances.
  • Monitor the progress of projects, investigating variances, and ensuring that project billings are issued to customers and payments are collected.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate project related records, including contracts, change orders, and billing progress.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and projections for upcoming projects, considering factors such as revenue trends, expenses, and risk factors.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies and procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in internal and external audits of project finances, providing documentation and support as needed.
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management, providing insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Identify financial risks associated with projects, develop mitigation strategies, and implement controls to safeguard financial assets.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Project accounting or project controls experience working in the construction or communications industry.
  • 3 years prior experience with working knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Skilled in MS Office, accounting software, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for project accounting, financial reporting, and data analysis.
  • Must have effective communication both written and verbal to convey financial information, findings, and recommendations to project teams, management, and stakeholders.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience using Deltek VantagePoint would be ideal.
