Description:

Sr SQL Server DBA with Azure and minimum 7+ years of experience working on SQL Server database platform.

The team is responsible for SQL plant's administration, security, performance, upgrades and manages day-to-day functions like performance troubleshooting, patches and tasks like backup recovery and changes to the environment.

This is a CONTRACT position for a senior level SQL Server operation DBA. Applicant will be responsible for SQL Server plant's health and must be able to perform day to day functions like managing security and access, backup and restores, upgrades, performance trouble shooting etc. Candidate must have worked on Microsoft SQL Azure Technology (IAAS/PASS), good verbal and written communication skills and should be able to work with others within and outside of the team. Performance and tuning of user issues and code is must have skill.

Required skills:

- Candidate should have at least 8 years’ experience working with Microsoft SQL Server as an operations DBA.

- University degree in computer science or equivalent

- Experience working on migrating existing SQL Server instances to Azure SQL or provision a new Azure SQL database.

- Backup and restore Azure SQL databases and configure High Availability in Azure VM.

- Configure, monitor and optimize the performance of Azure cloud database to meet the business needs.

- Work with Application team for Query Tuning, identifying performance issues in on-prem or Azure database and provide resolution.

- Automate common database management tasks using PowerShell

- A demonstrated proficiency in supporting the database platform of a large organization

- Prior experience with SQL Server Clustering, strong Transact

-SQL skills are highly desired- Ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolve complex problems in a live environment

- Experience in handling Production Outage calls and taking necessary actions to mitigate the issue

- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to articulate complex ideas and solutions to users

- Self-motivation with the ability to work independently and as a strong team player

- Flexibility to support the operations of our businesses, from time to time, on call on a rotation basis

Nice to have:

- Prior experience with Always ON, Replication, Backup and recovery methods including 3rd party tools like nexGen, Database Mirroring, Database capacity planning and Users and Role creation and monitoring.
