Client Tax Operations is responsible for accurate withholding and reporting with our reguatltory bodies, such as IRS and States. We build strong client relationships with our client and partner with technology to realize the full potential of various solutions to help support our clients and the firm. Throughout, the Operations department continually seeks ways to improve while actively supporting the development of new businesses, structures and markets.
Background on the Team
Global Wealth Management Operations provides brokerage, investment and financial services to hundreds of thousands of individual investors. We apply our expertise in serving institutional clients to create new opportunities for people to achieve their personal financial goals. Our company has one of the largest retail brokerage networks, with numerous worldwide representatives and retail locations. Our services are tailored to each client's investment objectives, risk tolerance, and financial needs. Products include mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and alternative investments where appropriate, as well as banking, mortgages, insurance and annuities.
The Client Tax Reporting Department is responsible for ensuring that all documentation, withholding, reporting and filing obligations of the Firm are met. The Client Tax Associate position is required to perform numerous data reviews, answering calls/cases on a daily basis from our branch offices and internal business partners. Shareworks by our company business unit is looking for a talented and energetic Associate to join the tax team to ensure Client and Participants’ accounts are reviewed and accurate.
Primary High Level Responsibilities
-Assist in reviewing year-end tax forms and ensure accuracy
-Assist in creating and reviewing audit procedure documentation
-Process daily reconciliation and ad hoc break report reviews
-Review of client and participant accounts for various inquiries
-Analyze accounts for required adjustments via journals or system updates
-Assist Financial Advisors and branches via our company Service Network calls and Case Management tickets that are sent to Client Tax Operations Stock Plan
Skills required
-College degree in Business
-Strong analytical skills
-Ability to be agile during the day to day responsibilities and multitask
-Knowledge in IRS Chapter 3 & 4 NRA and FATCA/CRS regulations with prior tax experience
-Knowledge of CRA and Canadian documentation, withholding and reporting
-Understanding of Stock Options, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, Restricted Units/Awards, Stock Appreciation Rights processing and prior experience
-Understanding of various types of client account classifications, tax documentation requirements, associated withholding and reporting requirements
-Ability to interact with individuals within the various business units and external partners via strong written and verbal communication skills
-Strong PC skills in Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint)
